Transforming rain water abundance into festive, colorful microclimates…

A diversity of one-year-old native plants in a water-harvesting landscape

… and working with nature to support a sacred and diverse web of life

Rain Gardens

We design and install functional rain gardens that infiltrate water from downspouts, patios and driveways within 24 hours of each rain event. We plant them with a diversity of native trees, shrubs and perennials adapted to wet and dry extremes.

Designing for Wildlife

We believe that planting a diversity of native plants is one of the most important ways to support environmental health. We plant attractive, manageable native plants that attract desirable moths, butterflies, native bees, birds & more.

Rain Tanks & Barrels

We install rain barrels and tanks that pre-filter rain and prevent sunlight from affecting the water. Harvesting rain reduces downstream erosion and flooding. Watering plants with stored rain reduces strain on drinking water resources .

Permaculture and More

We utilize Permaculture ethics and principles in everything we do, including edible landscaping, agroforestry, eco farm design, grey water systems and green parking lots. Tell us about your big and small ideas, and we’ll help you get there.

Chris Anderson, Columbus Ohio aka Captain Rainstorm, Founder of Catch the Water, LLC

Meet Chris Anderson, Founder

Chris Anderson has been harvesting water, growing food, planting trees and working with native plants for two decades. He celebrates plants and their interconnections with people and nature, including the Polyphemus moth caterpillars he raises. With additional background as an environmental educator and garden center lead, Chris is adept at working with people, soil, water and plants, and at troubleshooting challenges.

While in Northern Arizona 2005-2017, Chris won awards both for educating citizens about utilizing native plants in landscapes and for ecological landscapes his company Eden on Earth Landscaping installed. Now back in his home state, Chris is passionate about helping people pull the incredible biodiversity of Central Ohio woodlands, prairies and wetlands back into their yards before it disappears altogether.

Chris’s company, Catch the Water LLC, co-creates rain gardens, native plant gardens, and edible landscapes with people who enjoy connections, love to learn and love to make a difference. Chris also offers celebratory tree / garden planting events for special occasions like birthdays, weddings and graduation parties.
